Steve Lackmeyer, in response to a thread that I, too have been following on OKCTalk, refers back to one of his previous articles in The Oklahoman Business section from April 2007 on why downtown housing is more expensive than some would like. The main question is, "Why did developers begin with a more expensive offering, and will there ever be cheaper alternatives?"

The money shot from Lackmeyer:

You don’t want to buy a $400,000 house surrounded by $150,000 homes. But who doesn’t want to buy a $150,000 house surrounded by $400,000 homes?
