Over the past several months, The Journal Record has wasted paper and pixels with countless AP stories on the national housing market. While one could make the case that those stories do inform the local readership of conditions around the country, few, if any, of those stories give a clear and alternative view of the market in which their readership lives.

Today, "Journal Record Staff" issues a brief, 3-paragraph blurb headlined "Statewide home sales fall for first quarter", based on an OAR press release which carried two main themes: that home sales were down 12% over this quarter last year, and that despite that, home values were up 3.5%.

Which of the two did they choose to report, leaving the other minor detail out?

Compare and contrast with The Oklahoman's report on the same numbers.

It’s both amazing to me, and pathetic at the same time, that even a local publication would stoop to zeroing in on the negativity.  It’s all about their pocketbook, but I for one refuse to pad the pockets of such sensationalists.
